Eragon

By: Christopher Paolini

Review By: Sr. Iggs

Minor Spoilers

This book is about a boy named Eragon who finds a dragon egg and raises it until it is big enough to ride. He named the dragon Safira because she is a blue dragon. Once she is big enough to ride she senses danger and takes him away to a mountain and keeps him warm. They ride back and see that ra'zac had killed his step father and burned down his house. He seeks revenge so Brom helps him track down the ra'zac but they encounter more than they hoped for.

The main characters are Eragon, Brom, and Murtagh. The main adventure was when Eragon used magic to kill many Urgals to save the Varden. The problem was that the empire was tracking him down and he had to run away.

I thought this book was absolutely fantastic! I related to Eragon the most because we have the same personalities. My favorite parts are when he uses magic. I liked the entire book so I don't have a least favorite part. I would not have changed the book at all.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure but people who like boring books should not read this book.

This story was about a girl named Kira who was born with a twisted leg. She has a gift where she can weave very well because it comes naturally to her. The main characters were Kira, Thomas, and Matt. They had to each make something for a person called the singer, Kira had to repair and stitch something into his robe and Thomas had to carve something in his staff. One of the problems in the story was when Kira had to go to court to talk them into letting her stay alive. In my opinion the best adventure was when Kira was walking through the fen and people were watching her.

I think this book was very interesting so I couldn't stop reading. I related to Kira because she is able to do new things and I am to. My favorite character is Matt because he is mischievous and I like how he acts. My favorite part of the book is when Kira meets her father, it made me happy. My least favorite part was when Vandara the mean lady that tried to kill Kira scared Kira by growling in the woods because it was mean. I wouldn't change anything because this is a good book.

I would recommend this book to my friends because this is a good book and I liked it. People who like to finish a book would like this book but people that like to know exactly what happens from start to finish should not read this book.

The Tales Of Despereaux

By.Kate Dicamillo

Review:tacinda98

This story is about a little mouse named Despereaux he wasn't an ordinary mouse he was brave instead of scared. He was a gentle man in stead of a mouse. That's what he called himself. The main characters were the king, Despereaux, princes, George, Lester, and Ruscurdo. The problem was the princes got caught by the house maid and locked in a dungeon so Despereaux had to save her but he couldn't get the king's attention.

I loved this book. I didn't relate to any characters. My favorite character was Despereaux because he was brave and he did a lot of adventures. My favorite part of the book was when Despereaux was born because that was the cutest and the beginning of the book. My lease favorite part of the book was when Despereaux was about to get killed by the cat because Despereaux was the main character. I wouldn't change anything in this book.

I would totally recommend this book to my friends.
People that like adventures should read this book because it is basically about adventures. People who hate mice and rats shouldn't read this book.

After that her and Winn-Dixie went home.Opal and winn Dixie and the preacher were the main characters. The problem was that opal said that was her dog.The exciting adventures was that winn dixie and opal did a lot of fun stuff.

I liked this book because this book was about a little girl and a dog.I think I related to opal the most because I would of done the same thing for that dog.I didn't really have a favorite part in this book because I thought most of it was good.My least favorite part of the book is when winn dixie almost got caught by the dog catcher.I wouldn't change this book I think its a awesome book.

I didn't really like this book. I related to Jess the most. My favorite part was that the ugly rope turned into a beautiful gold bridge. My least favorite part is when Lesley died. I would of changed the part when Lesley died.

The Last Olympian

Author: Rick Riordan

Bradtplc

For a demigod life is never normal. One day you are enjoying Summer and the next you are fighting monsters. That's exactly how it is for Percy Jackson in the final book of the Percy Jackson and The Olympians series. With a war between the Gods and Titans looming, Percy must take greater risks to ensure the safety of Mt. Olympus and the world.

I liked The Last Olympian. I have enjoyed the other four books in the series, but this was the best one. My favorite part of the book was in the end when the parts of the prophecy were unveiled and everything made sense. My favorite character is Percy Jackson, he is the main character and he always seems to be the hero. I also enjoy the Greek mythology and adventure.

The age group that would like this book would be 5th grade and up. It helps if you know about Greek mythology. If you liked the first four books in the series you should love this one. It is full of adventure and I think that most students should really enjoy this book, but read the other four books first.

Be taken back to 1929 during the prohibition days and see the dark, dangerous, crime called rum-running, and the most famous, elusive rum-runner of them all, the Black Duck.
David Peterson, a freshman in high-school, just wanted to write a story to post in the newspaper. He doesn't know he is about to hear the story of Ruben Hart and his friend Jeddy, two average boys that are drawn into something BIG.

I like this book because it is full of adventure. My favorite part was when Ruben laid low with Tom Morrison. I liked this part because Ruben got to see what life was like without any rules. My least favorite part is when the Black Duck is fired upon by the US coast guard. I disliked it because some of my favorite side characters died.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a medium moving plot-line. I would not recommend this book to anyone who likes all action and no plot.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
Written by Mark Twain
Review by Pstuchlik1123

Follow Tom Sawyer in his boyish life in The adventures of Tom Sawyer.

This book follows the boyish adventures of Tom Sawyer, Joe harper, and Huckleberry Fin. Listen about their adventures, including stopping an evil plot and attending their own funeral!

I thought this book was enjoyable, it would have helped if they had had a modern english version. Their dialogue is very hard to understand at some points.
I related the most to Sid. This is because I am usually pretty quiet, only talking when having an opinion or question. My favorite part of the book was when they strutted amid their own funerals. I liked it because I think it would be very dramatic. My least favorite part is when he tried to woe Becky Thatcher. My reason for this is that he shouldn't be getting into that at such an age.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventurous, boyish tales.
I would not recommend this book to anyone who likes books that are just the opposite.

The Secret Garden By: Frances Hodgson Burnett
Review by Sissyjo261

The secret Garden is about Mary Lennox, A 10 year old girl who was ignored all her life. She lived in beautiful India, but her parents put her in a room, and only her servants saw her. Now with her parents being dead from malaria. She goes and lives with Uncle Craven, who she is not allowed to see. While there she discovers the moor. She hears of a Secret Garden, that has been sealed away for 10 years after Mr.Craven’s wife had died. She finds the key, thanks to a friendly robin and then finds the door. Inside the garden, she starts working to make it wonderful. Along her adventures she meets Dickon, and he also helps her with the garden. When she hears crying at night in the large home of Mr.Craven, What is it? Is it a person? She goes around trying to find the crying! Read the story to see what happens!

I think I am somewhat like Mary, because where there is a secret to be found, I try finding it. My favorite character was Mary though, cause she grew from a small, thin, and sick child, to a child who was loved, and was strong. When she discovers the Secret Garden that was defiantly my favorite part in the book because it's magical, she discovers a hidden garden, and it sounds magical. I don’t think I would change anything in the book though because this book was written beautifully, nothing needs to be rewritten.

I would recommend this book to boys and girls, who like somewhat of a mystery and also adventure. I would not recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a romance. This book would also be good to people looking for hope, cause everyone finds hope, in the garden and more!

GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra
written by: Brian James

reviewed by: cowboys55

The story is about Duke, as he tries to stop the Cobra from taking over the world. Dukes, Ripcord, and their squad have to deliver a top secret device to a company. As there on there way there, they all the sudden see their chopper go down. Something is wrong they have to battle the Cobra. The main characters are Duke, Ripcord, Ana, and more. There are a lot of exciting adventures in this story. You go from being in a underground base in the middle of the desert to Paris and then to the North Pole.

I very much liked the book, I think the way they described everything was amazing. I don't think I relate to any of the characters because they are all very different and unique. My favorite character was probably Snake Eyes because I think he is really cool and a very important character. My favorite part was when the two ninjas were fighting because they described it so it felt like you were in the book. I didn't like the part were the soldier got bit by the snake because it freaked me out that he didn't get hurt. I would maybe make the book a little longer because it is kind of short.

I would recommend this book to some of my friends because they like the sci-fi genre. You should read this book if you have the chance to it is a great book and goes very into detail. Don't read this book if you don't like the genre of sci-fi.
My Unwilling Witch Goes to Ballet School
by: Smonkey

The story is about a girl who is a witch, and she wants to go to ballet school. There is only one main character and that is the witch Rumblewick. She is a witch that knew and learned how to be a witch but she wants to go to ballet school. The problems are that the main Rumblewick and the witch that took care of her went to the other side of town, and Rumblewick wanted to go to ballet school really really bad and the witch let her, then they almost got caught. The exciting adventures are when they go to the ballet school in a pink car wearing all the pink stuff she had, and she is only suppose to wear black.

I like this book because it is an exciting, entertaining, and mesmerizing book. I can’t relate to any of the characters in the story. My favorite character is the witch that had to do whatever the other witch wanted her to do because she would be the better witch because she is behaving more grown up. My favorite part of the book is when the witch that didn’t go to ballet school went and took over her body, and then she scares all the kids. My least favorite part of the story is when the bad witches threaten to boil them both in flower oil.

I would recommend this book to my friend Amelia. I think my friend Amelia should read this book because she is only about 8 and she likes fiction stories. I think anybody who is a really good reader should not read this book.

Wild Girl
Smonkey

This story was about a girl that had a horse and loved to ride it, she rode it every day and became more attached to him everyday. The main character in this story was, a horse named Cavalo. The horse ends up getting hurt before the race and then she can't ride him. The exceeding adventures are when the next race comes he is all healed and he wins the race and they get showered with flowers and they got a gold mettle.

I thought this book was great. It was intertwining, fun and exciting, it was almost like T.V. in my head. I related to the little girl because I love to ride horses, although I'm not as good as her. My favorite character was Cavalo because he's a horse and I love horses and how beautiful they are and also they are athletic and sporty like me, because there are many different kinds of horses. The part I liked the most was when they came back to the second race and won the race. The reason I liked this part was because it was exciting and they won the race. My least favorite part of the book was the part when the horse got hurt right before the race while they were training on the tracks. The reason I didn't like this part was because the horse got hurt and I don't like it when any animal gets hurt except for if they hurt me. I wouldn't change anything in the book and I also wouldn't change the ending because I think the ending is perfect the way it is.

I would recommend this book to my friend Danya because, she also loves horses and I think she would like it a lot. I don't think anybody should not read this book. This book was one of the best books I think I've read.

Brian's Winter
written by: Gary Paulsen
reviewed by cowboys55

In this book you will go through an adventure with Brian. Some of you may have read the book Hatchet, well this book is just describing the winter he had to go through. This book had a lot of exciting adventures. Brian was in a plane crash and he was stranded in the middle of the forest. But luckily he escaped. Will the wolf attack and possibly kill Brian or will he survive the cold harshness of the winter.

My favorite character had to be Brian because really he is the only character. I liked this book a lot. I really like that they describe it very clearly and it's understandable. My least favorite part was when the bear was attacking because after being in a plane wreck I would hate to get attacked by a bear. I would try to make the book a bit longer but it is a pretty decent sized book.

I think I would recommend this book to a lot of my friends because they like adventure. I think this is a great book and if you have the chance you should definitely read it. It is a little short but it is great for a quick read.

The Cay
The Cay is about an eleven-year-old boy from the Dutch West Indies who is shipwrecked onto a small island (cay) in the Devil’s Mouth. (A chain of small islands in the Caribbean) His name is Philip, and he is also on the island with Timothy, a black sailor and stew cat. However Philip goes blind and Timothy has to help him around. After they’ve been on the island a while a large storm hits the island.
I think The Cay is a fantastic book. It does a great job of keeping you interested in the book. I think I relate to Philip’s “thinking style”. After all, I’m only a year older than him. I especially enjoy the part where they first came onto the island, it was very exciting. I also like the ending a quite a bit. I’m not going to spoil it for you, but the last paragraph ends the book with a little bit of humor, and doesn’t leave you hanging. It kind of gets you thinking.
This book is a good quick read. It isn’t very long, but is still very entertaining. This book has lots of adventure, and at the same time has that dystopia feeling to it. It is also a story of survival. If you have free time, this book is definitely worth the read.

Percy Jackson: The Last Olympian

The book is about a teenager boy named Pecry Jackson who is the son of Poseidon. He and his friends Annabeth and Grover set out to defend Olympus from a Titan army. The Titan Kronos is trying to invade Olympus with an army of monsters and strange creatures. Getting some help from a few more friends and some mythological creatures Percy defends Olympus.
I loved this book; it is full of excitement and will give you lots of good laughs. My favorite character was Tyson, he is a Cyclops that was fighting against the Titans. I liked him because he is always doing something comical and helps out a lot in the fight. My favorite part of the book was when the fight began. That was my favorite part because a lot of action takes place then.
This book is good for readers who enjoy action, comedy and Greek and Roman mythology. There is a whole series before this book, but you’ll catch on to what is going on without reading the other books. All of the books have lots of comedy and action though. The book is a little long but if you’re like me, once you start you want to find out what happens next!

Ashfire
I read the book, The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Its about a 10 year old girl named Mary. At the beginning she was a sour girl. She had to go live with her uncle. But she found a garden that had not been used in ten years. It makes happier and friendly the new garden makes her meet people and heals mean people. She also meets Dickon who is nice. He helps her with the garden. She also finds Colin, he always feels like he will die. Though the garden uplifts him and he becomes nice and able to walk.

I liked the plot line. My favorite character was Dickon because he was real friendly to creatures and people. He helped Mary take care of the garden. My favorite part was when Mary finds out how where the door is to the garden and where the key was. Colin was really fun to read about, he also kept thinking he was going to did, but the garden gave him faith that he was going to live. Together all of them take care of the garden. The garden was really important to them because it made them all happy and made them learn how to be nice because of the magic.

I would recommend this book . I think that most children would like to read the great fiction novel. It really makes want to keep reading. I do not think that most boys would like to read it because I do not think would be interested in the plot line of the story and that is one of the best things about the book. Though the book is a good classic to read and if your a kid it feels like you can relate to them in some ways.

The Little Prince
In the Book, The Little Prince, readers will be taken on a trip to different planets in our solar system, most of them you may not have heard about because Adults don’t think they are important. The book constantly implies that Adults are Narrow Minded, there is only one way to do things correctly. On the other hand, the book depicts kids as being adventurous, open-minded, and aware of the beauties around them. One of the main problems in the story was that the Narrator growing up could not find anyone who could see what his top hat shaped picture truly was. He was told that he should stop drawing and work on my important things. Thats about to change when his plane goes down in the Desert a thousands miles from civilizations, and a little boy shows up out of no where.
When I was looking for a book to read for the quarter, I finally decided to ask my teacher if she had any good book recommendations, and she pulled out The Little Prince. I laughed at first, because I thought she was joking. It looked like a little children book, but she told me otherwise. I turned out to really like this book. I do not think I related to any of the characters in the book, but I think I relate to the logical adults more than the kids. My favorite part of the book had to have been when the Little Prince went visiting all the other small planets and came across the one only big enough to hold a lamp and a lamp lighter. Since the planet was so small and the lamp lighter swore to follow his orders, he had to light the lamp every minute, because the day/night cycle was so short. Because the book was only 112 pages, I can not think of a part that was my least favorite. If I could change some things in this book, I might make it so that the Little Prince helps some of the Adults enjoy life, and see things differently.

I would recommend this book to others because you might learn something from it. There are many different lessons to be taught throughout the book. People who can see the true meaning behind the words should defiantly read this book. It might be a good read for younger children anyway, because it could be funny and mean a completely different thing for them.

Cammie Morgan is back, and better than ever! When the East Hall is closed off because of “chemicals” that leaked from the lab. Cammie and her friends crack the mystery. When they go on another Covert Operations mission, they see BOYS. Apparently there is a school EXACTLY like Gallagher. When the boys move in as an exchange program. What could be better? Until Josh sees her in town, with Zach, one of the boys from Blackthorne. Cammie is confused, she had feelings for Josh, but even stronger feelings for Zach. Zach the mysterious but totally cute, awesome spy. Liz and Bex both think Cammie should go out with him, and on the way to ask him out code black happens! What happens? Read the book to find out!

I just LOVE the Gallagher girls series, books full of adventure and romance. I relate to all 3 main girls. Liz because she is smart, Bex because she is tough, and Cammie because we both love adventure! My favorite part of the book was when they went on the Covert Operations mission and had to search through the Smithsonian for a certain place, while being trailed by someone! It had lots of action in it, like running scenes where they are running away from "danger".

I would recommend this book to all people who love action, adventure, and romance all together. I would not recommend this book, who don’t like romance, who don’t like action, or who don’t like adventure. The book are great, so read it now!

Of Mice and Men

By: John Steinbeck

Review By: eandrewstplc

This story was about two men, Lennie and George. They are traveling to a ranch in Soledad, CA, to try to "work up a stake". They plan to get a piece of land for themselves, with many animals. A man named Candy has a old dog, and she has pups. Candy lets him have one. One day Lennie is in the barn with the pups and he accidentally kills one of the pups. So Curleys (superintendents son) wife comes into the barn and sees the dead pup, and she starts to talk to him. Lennie gets scared talking to her and he accidentally kills her too in fright. Lennie realizes he has done a bad thing, so he goes down south where George told him to go if he does something bad. When George finds Lennie he knows that Lennie is burdening him, and he knows that he can not continue to let Lennie ruin things for him. So George brings Lennie to a calm place, and he shoots him.
I thought that the book was pretty entertaining, emotional and interesting. I think I sort of relate to George, because he is a leader, and intelligent. Lennie was my favorite character because he is sort of fun, and he is completely innocent. My favorite part of the book was when George had to kill Lennie, because it was very shocking, and emotional. My least favorite part of the book was when George was out with some of the guys, and Lennie stayed back with some other guys while they played cards. This was my least favorite part because i felt like nothing interesting happened. And if I could change anything I would change the ending, because I thought it was sort of abrupt, maybe make it so that it tells how it goes for George now that he doesn't have to worry about Lennie bothering him anymore.
I would probably recommend this to most of my friends, because i think they would find this very interesting. I think people that like a good short story that is sort of different. I don't really know who shouldn't read this, I guess it all depends on how they are. I thought that this book sent out many messages about friendship, and caring.----

Earthquake in the Early Morning
By: Mary Pope Osborne
Review By: Adam Harding

This story is about a little boy and a little girl. Their names are Jack and Annie. In this book they went to San Francisco, California. When they were in San Francisco the problem was there was a big earthquake. I was so existed to hear that they ran as fast as they could through the dust from the earthquake.

I love this book because it is an adventure. My favorite character is Jack because he saved his sister. My favorite part of the book was when Jack and Annie helped this librarian put books in the back of the librarian’s truck. Jack and Annie told her to go the dock because there was a fairy boat getting ready to leave.

I would recommend this book to people that like adventures. People that don’t like adventures will not like this book. People might not like this because it is back in the olden days.

White FangBy: Jack LondonReviewed by Tyler
White Fang is a dog that is half-wolf and half-dog who lives with an Indian tribe. A trader named Beauty Smith came and traded him for alcohol. He beat White Fang, but one of the fights he was clinging on to his life. This was Weedon Scott's bulldog, Weedon Scott took White Fang from Beauty Smith and raised him.
I liked this book a lot probably my favorite book I have ever read. I don't think I relate to any of the character's. My favorite character was White Fang because he has to survive living in the wild and I like his personalities. My favorite part was when Weedon Scott adopted White Fang because Beauty Smith didn't take care of him. My least favorite part was when Beauty Smith adopted him because he was mean to White Fang and made him fight other dogs. I would change the beginning because it takes so long to actually know who White Fang is.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and realistic fiction books. DO NOT read this book if you don't like dog's or sad stories.

This story was about this kid named Rob Horton, and Rob’s mother died a year ago. Rob and his father moved from Kentucky to Florida. They live in at the Kentucky Star motel. Rob found a tiger in the woods in a cage. On Robs way onto school he found out that there was a new student. The student was a girl, her name was Sistine Bailey. Rob had hurt legs that looked so bad that he had to stay home from school until they got better, because other parents thought it was contagious. Sistine went to Rob everyday after school and gave him his homework. Sistine and rob eventually became friends after a couple days when Sistine went to school. A couple days later Rob told Sistine about the Tiger in the woods in a cage. Then Rob showed Sistine the tiger. The main characters of this story are Rob Horton, Sistine Bailey, Beauchamp, Robert Horton and Willi May. The problem in the story was that there was a tiger. one of the adventures in this story was when Sistine and Rob got chased in school. Another of the exciting adventures was when Robert finally let his feelings out of his suitcase.
I EXTREMELY liked this book. I think I related to the character Sistine. I am like her because she is outgoing and she likes to have things her way. I am like her becuase she likes to do the things that she thinks is right. My favorite character of this story is Sistine because she is a girl and she likes to do things her way and she is very smart and she really likes to do the mostly right things. I wish I could have changed the ending a little bit by making something or someone not die. I would not change the ending that much because it is very happy and emotional and it is great.
I recommend this book to all of the people I know because it is so free and it is very detailed and it just feels like it is so real and I loved it. I think everybody should read this book because it is not hard and it is very exciting.

Thanksgiving On Thursday

This story is about a boy and a girl. Their names are Jack and Annie. They live in Frog Creek, Pennsylvania. Jack and Annie have a magic tree house in the woods they go to sometimes to see if there is a story there for them to go to. In this story Jack and Annie go back in 1621 to the first thanksgiving.

They had some problem in the story. Jack was told to go fowling with a group of boys. He didn’t know what that meant. Then Jack and Annie were told to go get some eels and clams. When they got they got to the lake they were like how do we catch the eels and clams.

I liked this book it was so interesting to read. I relate to Jack the most because when he dropped the turkey in the fire I would feel really bad to. My favorite character is Priscilla. She was so nice to Jack when he dropped the turkey Priscilla said don’t worry there is plenty of food to go around.

I would recommend this book to people who like adventures and olden day stuff. I would not recommend this book to people who do not like adventures or olden day stuff.

Meg Finn isn't bad, but ever since her mother died she hasn't been very good either. One day she is aiding the closest person she has to a friend, Belch Brennan, in a burglary of Lowrie McCall's apartment. When a freak accident blows both Meg and Belch to pieces, Belch goes straight to Hell while Meg is caught somewhere in between. To right her acts she must go back to Earth and help the man she tried to rob.

This is one of the best books I have ever read. The Wish List is full of adventure and takes an interesting look into how you may spend eternity when you die. My favorite part was when after Meg died and she was going through a tunnel in the after life and it branched off to Heaven and Hell. It was a new way of looking at the afterlife, but it made sense. It keeps you reading and never seems to have a dull moment.

I would recommend this book for middle schoolers and up. Curious and adventurous people would really enjoy it also. It is just an overall good book and I think older students would enjoy it immensely.

I think I can relate most to Bex, a girl who seems innocent but can really put up a fight. Like with me I can seem like I can’t do a lot things, but in reality I can do many things. I liked this book, lots of action and I really liked the plot line, girl seems normal, girl goes on adventure, girl finds boy, boy thinks she’s normal, then I would tell but then it would give away the ending. I think I didn’t like any of the parts. Except the carnival part, I wish it had more action in it.

I would recommend this book to girls who like adventure and a pretty good comedy. It also has just a little bit of romance in it. I would not recommend this book to girls who think that adventure and action books are for guys. Other than that I give this book 2 thumbs up!

Spiral Bound
By: Bethanie

The story was about this monster that everybody was afraid of. Everybody thought it was a real monster. All of the characters that are kids make things for an art show. The main characters are Turnip, Viola, Emily, Stucky, and Mrs.Skrimshaw. The characters Turnip and Stucky make things for the art show, because Turnip is good at sculpting and Stucky is good at building. Mrs.Skrimshaw is the teacher. All of the adults in town want to hurt Mrs.Skrimshaw, because they think that she was making their kids unsafe. Viola and Emily are best friends. Emily is in a secret paper business and then Viola finds out about it and joins. They both go undercover and try to find out the stories about the monster, and Mrs.Skrimshaw. One of the exciting adventures were when Turnip and Stucky went on the secret underground train to help save Mrs.Skrimshaw. Another adventure was when Stucky makes his creation for the art show and tries it, then brings in Turnips old creation, because the creation that he had planned to show was ruined.

This book was very exciting and I loved it. I related to the character Viola, because she is very outgoing and adventurous. She goes for things even when other people say no. My favorite character was Stucky. He was my favorite character because he built something and never gave up even when he had to restart his project. He is exciting and made Turnip do things he had never done before. My favorite part of the book was the ending. I liked the ending because it shows all of the truth and it let’s some characters be free. I liked it because it was exciting and adventurous. I did not really have a least favorite part of this book. If I could change this book I would make it more exciting. I would make the ending different by letting all of the people know about the person at the end and make that person surprise them even more by showing them the inside.

I would definitely tell my friends about this story. I think that most of the people in my class should read it, because it is a great book to read. I think that people in a higher grade level can read this book but should not read this book because it is not a child book, but it is not a really long book.

Misty of Chincoteague

By: Smonkey

This story was about a horse and her mom. They came here on a Spanish Galleon to Chincoteague and Assateague. The main characters are Misty, a horse, Phantom, another horse, Paul, Grandma, Grandpa, and Maureen. Misty is Phantom’s baby horse. She played and ran around. Phantom is a horse with the US map on her coat on her shoulder. Maureen and Paul are two kids that dream of having a horse or two. Grandpa and Grandma take care of them and fed them. The problems in this story are first that Maureen or Paul could not go get horses on Pony Penning day. The other problem is that they could never catch Phantom until she had Misty.

Some of the exciting adventures are that Paul and Maureen had to make $100 to buy the horses, and so they work for others. Another adventure is Paul got old enough on Pony Penning Day to go catch horses so he catches Phantom and Misty. I thought the book was really good because I like horses. It was fun and adventurous. I related to Maureen because she’s a young, fun, smart, loving, and caring girl. My favorite character was Phantom because she’s a horse and also because she got to be free. My favorite part of the book was when Paul and Maureen raced Phantom in a big race and won, they also only won $12 and thought they could buy a Brass Halter, the reason this is my favorite part of the book is because it’s funny and exciting. My least favorite part of the book was when they had to set Phantom free and let her go out in to the wild, I didn’t like this part because it was sad and they didn’t want to so badly it was maddening. If I could change something to the book it would be the part where he lets Phantom free, and if I could change the ending I would make it where they say Misty is all grown up and winning lots of races and they are still going out to the wild to see Phantom.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves horses and likes to read fun, funny and adventurous books. Morgan and Danya would like this book because they both love horses. I don’t think people who like hard books should read this or people who like to read really difficult words. Caylie and Mason wouldn’t like this because it’s too short of a book.

A Crack In the Line

Alaric Underwood, A resident at Withern Rise, had to deal with The tragic accident of his mother Alex Dying. Little did he know that an alternate reality, was not so far away from his own. Naia, an almost duplicate of himself, living in the same house. The only difference, is that Naia still has her mother. Find out what Happens when he discovers just how close there lives are to each other, and how fragile the connection is.

I Enjoyed this book, for something I saw on the shelf at my local library. In the end I Really enjoyed being able to read this. The author did a wonderful job getting you pulled into this book. I Was not able to find myself relating to the characters in this book, all of them seemed to have a different purpose and nothing that I could really every see myself doing. My favorite character would have to be Liney, Alarics aunt. She is a happy, upbeat character, motivated to get things done, and have fun while doing so. These kind of people are the people I would like to hang around with. My favorite part of the book. I think this would have to be where Alaric first travels to this alternate reality and discovers his “twin”. This is when the action in the book begins to really take off. My least favorite part of the book would be when the Folly (the means of traveling between the two realities) cracks, then shatters. This was what I thought was a cheap way of ending the book. This is what I would like to have changed in the book.

I have already been recommending this book to my friends before I even finished reading it. I thought there were a lot of people in my school that might benefit from reading this book. I think anybody who likes a good book, should read this. There is not a specific genre that this book fits into to.

Alabama Moon

Author: Watt Key

Review by: Bradtplc

Moon Blake is boy raised to live off the land. He can sew his own clothes, make his own shelter, find his own food, and he knows everything there is to know about living in the wild. One day while checking their traps his pap breaks his leg. Knowing he can’t be helped he tells Moon to go to Alaska, where there are more people like them. Follow Moon as he goes through boys homes, jail, and the wilderness on his way to Alaska.

I really enjoyed this book. It had a lot of adventure and action. I learned a lot about surviving and what it was like in that timeframe. Alabama Moon was full of suspense and twists around every turn. I think it is a great book and I would love to read it again sometime.

I would recommend this book to anyone that liked adventure and stories of survival. The age group that would enjoy this book the most are people twelve and older. It does have some violent parts, but over all it is a great book that most age groups would enjoy.

This book takes you on the amazing adventure of young James Bond. Learn his past, following him through high school, discovering enemies. The story takes you across Europe, from Eton to Scotland. Learn what happened to his parents. Follow him and his friends to a castle, where people have just suddenly vanished. The only way to find out what this castle holds inside its walls is to read.

My favorite character is James, because he was the main person, he is always ready for a challenge; never afraid of anything. I thought this book was a great book to be able to open and get away from everything else that is going on. It’s like being on your own adventure, following in the footsteps of James Bond himself. I really related to James because I always like to have a challenge waiting for me to beat, and I like to explore things that are interesting to me. My favorite part of the book was when his uncle Max was teaching him about how a car engine works, and how to drive a car for the first time. He kept trying even after he killed the engine time and time again. My least favorite part of this book would have to be when Kelly fell out of the tree. I was really hoping it would have been both of them exploring the mysterious castle together. This would also have to be the part in the book I would like to change if I had the chance.

I would recommend this book to any of my friends who wanted a good adventure and mystery book to read. It’s somewhat long at 300+ pages, but it’s worth anyones time to read. People who are interested in the James Bond series books or anyone under 20 might enjoy reading this.

I read the book "Airman" by Eoin Colfer. It is about a boy named Conor Broekhart who was born in a hot air balloon. Who lived on Great Saltee in the Saltee islands. He becomes great friends with Victor Vigny and Princess Isabella.

When he saves princess Isabella's life by making a glider with a flag he becomes Sir Conor Broekhart. He was good friends with Victor Vigny. Victor was Conor's teacher. They both fenced and dreamed of ideas of how to fly with a plane of glider.

When Conor turns fourteen everything changed. When the Marshall Bonvilain, of the Saltee islands kills Victor Vigny and King Nicholas. Bonvilain blames Conor for it and throws him in prison on Little Saltee. Bonvilain killed them because they got suspicious of him taking diamonds from the diamond mine.Bonvilain lies to Conor's parents saying that Conor Finn did it and killed Conor Broekhart too.

Conor has to deal with living on Little Saltee. In the prison Conor meets friends called Zeb Malarky who helps him get diamonds from the diamond mine and makes him one of the Battering Rams. He also meets a man named Linus Wynter. He is a musician and spy from the United States asked by King Nicholas to investigate Bonvilain.

Conor has to find a way out and tell his parents what really happened. He also has to help Great Saltee from Bonvilain's horrible laws. I would recommend this to all my friends. I like how there is ton of suspense. Read "Airman" by Eoin Colfer to find out if he does or even what he does to live in the horror of Little Saltee.external image c.gif

The Mystery In Washington DC

Review by: Adam
Author is: Gertrude Chandler Warner

This book has four main characters. They are Benny, Henry, Violet, and Jessie Alden who are brothers and sisters. In this story they went to Washington DC for vacation and ended up solving a mystery. They had a hard time solving this crime mystery because there were so many suspects to look at. Things started to disappear at the bed and breakfast they were staying at.Mr. and Mrs. Cooley were downstairs making a lot of noises. The Alden’s were starting to think that the Cooley’s were the thief’s. One day Violet woke up and was going down stairs to eat breakfast when she saw a man standing at the Cooley’s room and walked in the room and came out with something in his hand. The Smithsonian mall has a bunch of museums where the Alden’s went.

Benny is the character I related to the most. We are a lot a like because when he is out somewhere he gets tired and gets hungry and wants to leave. That’s what happens to me when I’m somewhere and I get bored. All I want to do is leave right away. I liked about this book was when the Alden’s were at an old dress museum. When Benny walked in his jaw dropped and he yelled I’m out of this place.

I didn’t like it when Mrs. Wentworth blamed the Alden’s for stealing her brooch it was mean. One museum I would have wanted to go to the money factory. I like this book because the mystery was very clear what was going on and other mysteries don’t do that. One of my favorite parts was I learned a lot about Washington DC. I learned about money that they don’t make two dollar bills. You also can’t make you own money and if you did you would have to go to jail a very long time.

I would recommend this book to people who like history, mysteries and adventure. I don’t think that people who don’t like history, mysteries and adventure should not read this book. The people wouldn’t like it because there might be some old facts that people wouldn’t read about.

White Fang

White Fang is about a half-wolf-half-dog who is the dog of an Indian. White Fang is the main character; he learns to survive in his harsh environment. Gray Beaver is his Indian owner, who takes White Fang on trips and raises him. Beauty Smith is a trader at a fort Gray Beaver stops at. Beauty Smith takes possession of White Fang (It would take a while to explain) and forces him to become a ferocious pit dog. Lip-Lip is a dog at the Indian camp that persecutes White Fang in his puppy hood, and that is a main reason White Fang is so ferocious. After White Fang becomes Gray Beaver’s dog, he learns the way of the Indian Dogs. However he is an outcast. Lip-Lip and the rest of the puppies at camp persecute him. When he becomes older he gets into lots of fights, and even kills some of the dogs. When he becomes Beauty Smith’s dog, Beauty Smith torments him and makes him fight as a pit dog for money. White Fang becomes a showcase for animal fighting known as “the fighting wolf.”

I personally liked the book. I thought it was very good. The author uses vivid and descriptive words, and he always goes deep into detail. An example would be “Then One Eye creeping and crawling, every sense on alert every hair radiating infinite suspicion.” I really think that that was pretty detailed, and that wasn’t the only time he goes into just this descriptive frenzy. Every page has something like that. I wouldn’t change the ending, or anything in the book. I thought it was put together very well.

I think you would like this book if you like action and adventure, or survival books. If you like Science Fiction or Fairy Tales I don’t think this is the book for you. I don’t currently have anyone in mind that I think should read this book.

The Battle of the Labyrinth

The Plot

The Battle of the Labyrinth is the fourth book in the Percy Jackson series. It’s about a demi-god named Percy Jackson. He is one of the people who try to save camp half-blood. That’s a camp for demi-gods like him. It is suspected that an army of monsters will attack the camp and try to kill all the demi-gods. Annabeth is one of the demi-gods who goes on a quest to try to save the camp. My favorite character was Tyson. He is a Cyclops, does funny things and has some cool features.

My Opinion

I liked the book very much. I don’t really think I related to any of the characters in the book at all. My favorite part of the book was when they were in the middle of the labyrinth; it was towards the beginning of the book. I liked it because they had lots of fights, and it had lots of dialogue around that part. They also encountered a number of bad guys in that section. My least favorite part of the book was at the end when it was sort of wrapping up the story. It wasn’t very exciting at that point. There was a small fight but the main character was sort of just thinking to himself. It sort of left you hanging. They probably left you hanging because there is going to be another book. I really can’t think of any revisions that I would make on the book.

My Recommendation

I don’t have anybody that I know of that I would recommend this book to. However, if you like Action and Adventure type genres you will probably like this book. If you are fonder of Sci-Fi and Nonfiction I don’t think you would like this book very much.

Ottoline and The Yellow Cat
By: Chris Riddell
Smonkey

This story was about a girl who’s name was Ottoline. Her mom and dad went on adventure all the time. So she was at home with Mr. Munroe a lot of the time. Sometimes her parents would send her a postcard. The main Characters of this book were Ottoline, Yellow Cat and Mr. Munroe. Ottoline took care of the collections and did all of the stuff her mother would do when she was around. Mr. Munroe would just sit in his room which was a hole in the floor inside of a room. The Yellow Cat worked for a company that sold lap dogs to people. If they ran away they would come back there, but the person that lost them wouldn’t get to choose another. The problem in the story was with the lap dog company, they would send the dog to overnight collect all the jewels and cash from the house and take them back to the company so they would be rich.

The exciting adventure in this story was when Mr. Munroe pretended he was a dog to get into the lapdog company and give them and their secret hideout away. My favorite character was Ottoline because, she was always ready for an adventure and fun and weird. I liked the book a lot. It was very interesting, entertaining and exciting to read. I related to Mr. Munroe because I don’t like having my hair brushed. My favorite part of the book was when they busted the lapdog company for stealing their money, the people that lost their pets were also able to get them back. My least favorite part of the book was when she kept ignoring Mr. Munroe, because he was going to tell her something important. If I could change anything in the book I would change the ending to something that would better end it instead of a post card.

I would recommend this book to my friend Elicia and anybody 13 and under. One person who should read this book is Elicia, I think she would like this book because she it’s kind of funny and cartoony. I don’t think Caylie should read this book or Mason either because it would be too short for them. They would go through it in 30 min. at the most.

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane
By: Kate Dicamillo
Tplc18

Once there was a china rabbit who was loved by a little girl. The rabbit went on a ocean journey and fell overboard and, was rescued by a fisherman. He was buried under garbage and unburied by a dog. He traveled for a long time with the hoboes and, worked for a short time as a scarecrow. Once there was a rabbit who loved a little girl, and watched her die. The rabbit danced on the streets of Memphis. His head was broken open in a diner and was put together again by a doll mender, and the rabbit swore he would not make the mistake of loving again. Once there was a rabbit who danced in a garden in springtime with the daughter of the women who had loved him at the beginning of his journey. The girl swung the rabbit as she danced in circles. Sometimes it seemed as if they were flying. Sometimes it seemed as if they both had wings. Once, oh once, there was a rabbit who found his way home. The main character in the book was Edward Tulane, the rabbit.

I loved the book. It was very sad though, I cried. I related to a lot of characters. I related to Bryce, the little boy who lived in a small shack, Sarah Ruth who was Bryce's sister, who died, I related to Abilene, the little girl who loved him in the beginning, the old couple who found him fishing, and the hobo, who took good care of him. My least favorite part was when Sarah Ruth died, that was the part where I cried.

I recommend this book to my friends, and people who like adventure, and like to cry. This was a very sad book, but it was very touching too. I loved the book The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and hope you do too.

This is a story about a mouse that is sick his mom, brother and father, but the father dies at old age. One thing he didn’t tell them before he died was that he was a great friend with the rats. Then they found that out later once he died and the rats found out, then they came up to their house and told them how he had became friends with her husband.

The characters of the story were: The Rats The mice and other people. The sick sun played the main role in the story. They all got to play in a part whether it was just at the beginning or not.

This was a good book and I would recommend it to the people who are like me. Also to people who don’t read for fun, but just like to read in general whether it’s for school or not.

In this story there was a boy named Henry Green(who eats chocolate every day)he can’t get enough chocolate. Henry Green has the problem where he only eats stuff with chocolate on it. He is addicted to it. His mom and dad just keep letting him eat chocolate. It doesn’t do any thing to his body though.

The main characters of the story were; Henry Green, and Mac. Henry’s job was going to school. Mac was a chocolate deliverer. Then when Henry decided to run away Mac found him on the side of the road. Then they were going to the phone and there car got hijacked.

The conflicts that hijacked there car were; Louie and Lefty. The way you could tell them apart was because Lefty was bigger and he had glasses and a mustache. Then Louie was littler and he didn’t have glasses or a mustache. The exciting adventurous parts were when there car got hijacked and when all the dogs came running in to the cabin like a stampede. Henry was my favorite character because he was always making up story’s so that people wouldn’t do anything to him. Then h e was curios and brave.

The Lightning Thief

In the book "The lightning thief" Percy (a boy who has many insecurities relating to school) embarks on a treacherous journey to retrieve what has been stolen, the master bolt. Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school, like many times before. Percy doesn't know what to think when he has his first encounters with mythical beasts that lead him to Camp Half Blood, a camp where kids like him (half bloods) are protected from the many beasts that they attract outside the camp. Each of these kids are children of a god or goddess. SPOILER ALERT: Percy turns out to be the first son of Poseidon the camp has held in a long time. Percy's former Latin teacher Chiron sends Percy on a life or death quest to retrieve the master bolt with two of his friends SPOILER ALERT: Annabeth (a daughter of Athena) and Grover (a satyr). He never expected what would happen..........................

My favorite character in this book was actually Annabeth because she is such a sassy brainiac that relates to me in so many ways. I relate to Annabeth because I love animals particularly dogs and I have to admit that I am a bit of a brainiac, sometimes I talk about things that nobody really cares about, except of course, me. My favorite part of the story was actually when Percy met Hades because it just was so intimidating and every scene was very well described, I could picture everything in this book. My least favorite part of the book was when Percy killed Crusty because I have empathy for even bad guys, so I can feel their emotions strongly. I honestly wouldn't change this book in any way, it's a marvelous book in my eyes.

I recommend this book to people who have read Harry Potter and perhaps Lemony Snicket books because this book takes many things from Harry Potter. Some people may even prefer this book to Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket because Rick Riordan ties old greek Mythology to modern times, and is just brilliant with his imagination. If you don't enjoy action or scare you probably should NOT read this book, you can always give it a try though.

The Phantom Tollbooth
By: Norton Juster
Illustrated by: Jules Feiffer

The Phantom Tollbooth is about a boy named
Milo who discovers a tollbooth in his room. When
he deposited a coin, a car appears in his room and
off he goes. He ends up in a world full of places,
actually the Worlds are where words, numbers,
Rhyme and Reason, come from. During
The trip Milo has to escape jail, rescue
Princesses and restore order to the lands.
With the help of a Watchdog named
Tock and a Humbug. Will he make it?

I really liked the book because it
had a lot of adventure in it and how Milo
Just finds a huge box and he knows it’s not
Neither Christmas nor his birthday, which I
Find very strange and in it is a phantom
Toll booth. I also liked, For instance, when he
Meets, the which but people thinks she is a witch,
and I like the watchdog dog, named Tock instead of Tick.
And I really like the characters sometimes you could really
relate to them. But, I think it could have had some more
adventures in it, instead of just one. But in the end I really enjoyed it.

You should read this book if you like adventures and big words.
And if you like fantasy you would love this book, as this is a modern
fantasy but with a reality twist. But if you love romance or non-fiction
this book is not for you. And it has to be good if it turned in to a movie!
So why not give it a try. Maybe you would like it too.

The Life Adventures of Robinson Crusoe

I read the book The Life Adventures Robinson Crusoe. Robinson Crusoe loves the sea and always wanted to sail but one time when he sailed he got into a terrible storm and his crew was killed when they tried to get to shore. But Robinson was the only one who survived. Now Robinson has to survive on a deserted island all by himself. Can Robinson face earthquakes, hurricanes, and make a shelter. Read Robinson Crusoe to find out.

I think that if he did not go to sea. He would maybe care more about school. And after that, he will maybe do lots of fishing and grow crops. And maybe have a slave. He would maybe have good friends and good crop. He also would make his is parents more happy. He might have his own company. With like fishing or something like that.

White Fang is about a wolf born in the Arctic. His father dies in a search for food and his mother takes care of him until he is old enough to hunt for himself. Then, one day they are captured by a tribe of natives. White Fang fights with the other dogs and becomes vicious and wise, but he is sold to an evil man who forces White Fang to fight in the pits for money.

I was excited to read the ending of this book. Some people might not enjoy this book, especially if you are young and get teary easily. Other people might love this book, especially if you like adventure and some violence. This is a good book for middle-school students and older

I was sad a few times and angry also. Then, there were times when it was nice and heartwarming, but the entire time I was anxious for more. I really enjoyed it and I think you will too.

This was a heartwarming book that brought out my imagination and made me sad at one moment and full of joy at others. I really loved it and I think it would be a good book for any age or personality.

Airman
By: Eoin Colfer

Conor Broekhart was born flying in a hot air balloon at the Paris World Fair. As a child he spent his days exploring Great Saltee, the larger of the two Saltee Islands. When he gets older he takes lessons on fencing, mathematics, science, philosophy, and aeronautics from his tutor, Victor. Conor dreams of building a heavier than air flying machine. When he discovers a conspiracy against his king he is thrown in the diamond mine on Little Saltee and forced to work. One day he is forced to put his plans of a flying machine to work and take to the skies.

This an amazing book. It had adventure, suspense, and even some romance. I liked how it was set in the past when the ideas of flying machines were just ideas and how the possibility of flight is brought into the story. I also enjoyed some of the unexpected twists like when, well you'll have to read to find out.

You would like this book if you enjoyed adventure and unexpected turns. It would also be the book for you if you liked flying and some science. You might not like it so much if suspense is too much for you to handle and you don't want to be awake at night thinking of what will happen next. Airman is one of the best books I have ever read and think other people would enjoy it also.

A Week in the Woods

By: Andrew Clements

This is a book about a boy named Mark. He goes to school at Hardy Elementary. He’s getting ready for a program called A Week in the Woods. It’s when the fifth graders go out to Gray’s Notch State park for a week in the woods. When Mr. Maxwell finds a knife under Marks leg that is Jason’s. And Mark doesn’t want his friend in trouble. So Marks takes the blame. And Mark runs off into the woods and Mr. Maxwell runs off to find him. Will Mark ever be found? Find out when you read this book.

The first thing I liked about the book is the chapter title named Skirmish. Liked it because it really dragged me into the book, it dragged me into the book by making me think what was going to happen next. The second thing I liked was when he camped out in the woods alone. I liked it because it painted a picture in my mind. The first thing I didn’t like was Mark being a slacker. I’m poor but I am not a slacker. The second thing I did not like was when Mr. Maxwell was mean to Mark. Teachers are supposed to be nice.

People should read this book if they like outdoor adventure. People shouldn’t read this book if they hate being alone.

Brian's Winter

Picture of book

The story was about a boy who got in a plane crash and landed in the middle of nowhere and had to take care of himself he was headed to see his dad. The main characters name is Brian he was the one who was in the plain crash. The problem is that the man who was driving the plain to his dads had a huge heart attack and he lost control. He had no idea what to do to take care of himself, when they landed it was in a lake he almost drowned. Some of the exciting adventures are when this moose was dodging at him and could have killed him; he saved himself by shooting it. And he had a bear in his shelter but a skunk saved him.

I really liked this book it was great. I really related to Brian because he had never been to the country before so he thought he would hate it but he ended up loving it, I also love the country. He also stands up for himself and so do I. My favorite part of the book was when the skunk would come and almost spray Brian if he wouldn’t feed her I thought it was pretty funny. The reason this is my favorite part is because it was like a pet. It even saved him from the bear. My least favorite part of the book is all the blood when the animals die because I really like animals. It is really descriptive when they die. If I wrote the story that’s what I would of changed.

I would recommend this book to a lot of my friends. Some of them have even read it and they loved it. People who like adventure books would love this book it is amazing if you like that genre. People who like mysteries might like this book but like people who like fantasy and stuff like that would probably not care for it that much. You should try for yourself maybe you would like it; never know tell you try.

Meet Molly

Valerie Tripp

Nick Backes

By: LeightonTPLC

This is a story is about meeting Molly. It tells about her life for a few days and one of the days is Halloween. She has to try to decide what she is with her friends. The main character as you can probably tell is Molly. She made fun of her brother in front of a girl he really liked. Now he got back at them by spraying their costumes in water when they got back from trick or treating. There mom was going to take a picture of them so they could send it to there dad whitch he is at war. They haven’t seen him in seven months. So the real problem ended up being that there home was turning into war because when he did that they tried to get back at him so it just kept happening and their mom got mad. Some of the adventures that they had were going out on Halloween their selves they got to hula dance for all the neighbors because they were hula dancers as there costume. My favorite character was defiantly Molly because she is really pretty and has a great personality.

I really liked this book; it was great! I related to Molly cause she has siblings and she is always trying to get back at them. She always tries not to make her friends feel bad. My favorite part of the book was when they pulled a prank on her brother and embarrassed him really bad by pouring his dirty clothes all over the girl he liked including his underwear. The reason this is my favorite part is because i think it was funny. I understand this because i have siblings. My least favorite part of the book was when Molly’s brother sprayed water all over them. I think it was mean because they were going to take a picture and send it to their dad. If I could change anything in this book it would be the horrible description of the turnips it was “ old cold moldy brains”. That’s disgusting!

I would recommend this book to a lot of my friends. I think anyone would like this book because it is like a whole bunch of genres in one. I don’t think anyone wouldn’t like it. If you try reading I think you would like it you should try it

Meet Felicity Picture_5.png

By Valerie Tripp

By:dancerdarian54

This story is set in Williamsburg, Virginia in 1774. Felicity Merriman is an outrageous nine-year-old girl. She is fun, caring and wild about horses. Felicity doesn’t enjoy “normal girl” stuff like sewing and handwriting. She always wants to be outside. She loves horses and is very excited when she learns of a new horse in her town. Sadly, the horse is owned by a horrible man who treats his animals very cruelly. Felicity falls in love with the horse that she fondly calls Penny. She sneaks around to visit Penny and they become friends. Eventually, Felicity realizes that she will have to make a hard dissension to save Penny’s life.

I loved this book. Once I started to read it, I didn’t want to stop. Felicity is a great girl. She loves animals like I do and will do anything to help them. Her adventures when trying to befriend the horse really keep your attention throughout the book. It makes you wonder how the story will end. There’s an unexpected twist at the end that took me by surprise.

I think anyone my age would enjoy this book and I would recommend it to any of my friends because it is fun, exciding, and entertaining. I loved this book and I think anyone who reads it will too.

A Wrinkle In Time

A_Wrinkle_in_Time.png

A Wrinkle In Time is about a girl named Meg. She goes on a mission to save her father. Three ladies named Mrs. Which, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Whatsit assist her. Her brother Charles Wallace also helps her, along with Meg’s friend Calvin. They tesser, or wrinkle to other planets throughout their journey and resist the mind of IT.

I think the book was exciting in most parts, and added humor every now and then; I don’t think I relate to any of the characters in the story. My favorite section is when Calvin, Meg and Charles Wallace are on Camozotz talking to the man with red eyes. That part was my favorite because it had lots of dialogue and was exciting and intense. I was kind of bored at the part where they were all on Ixchel. I was bored there because there wasn’t really any action. It was sort of just Meg thinking to herself that whole section.

I don’t have anyone in mind that I could suggest this book to. If you like fiction books you would probably like this book, you’d probably also like it if you like Harry Potter. It’s a great book for fantasy readers. If your more into horror books or mystery books you probably wouldn’t like this book, but you might.

Crispin Cross of Lead

Crispin.jpg.jpg
Crispin is a 13 year-old boy who has no parents, home, or name. The steward, John Aycliffe is trying to kill Crispin because Crispin is the son of Lord Furnival. Bear is a large red headed bearded Jester who befriends Crispin. Crispin is forced to flee his hometown because a steward is chasing him for his life. As he escapes through forests he comes across a man named Bear. Bear befriends Crispin and teaches him how to play the recorder and sing. Although no matter where Crispin goes he keeps running into the steward. It really showed how hard life was for slaves, or poor people back in medieval times. It wasn’t really how all the fairy tales go.

I liked Crispin a lot, it’s usually very exciting and makes you want to read more. My favorite part of the book was when Crispin was escaping from the steward before he met Bear. I liked that part because there was lots of suspense and Crispin was chased through the woods. I really didn’t like the beginning of the book though, it was the introduction and kind of boring. I didn’t like it because it was explaining the situation and nothing was really happening.

I think that if you like Lord of the Rings or Dystopia books, you should like this book. If you’re into adventure and drama sort of stuff this is probably a book for you. If you like Sci-Fi, or romance books, this probably isn’t the book for you.

Gregor the Overlander

By: Suzanne Collins

Gregor the Overlander was about a boy named Gregor. He and his sister, Boots, went on a big quest to find their
father, which was also turned out to be a quest for the Prophecy of Grey.
Gregor had always thought his dad was dead but when he got to the Underland, a world that is below our world, that all changed.

I loved Gregor the Overlander, it has got to be one of my favorite
books. My favorite part of the book was probably the middle of the
book when they started to go on there journey. My least favorite part
of the book was probably the beginning of the book.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure, fantasy, and
science fiction. Any who likes Harry Potter should like Gregor the
Overlander.

Invasion Of the Boy Snatchers

By Lisi Harrison

Book Review by dancerdarian54

This book was not quite what I expected, but turned out to be very interesting. The author was really good about keeping the reader’s attention.

Massie Block and her friends, Alicia, Claire, Dylan and Kristen are very wealthy, except for Kristen and Claire. They live in mansions, wear designer clothes and have pretty much everything. Massie and her friends are popular in their school and everyone wants to be like them. Life for them was very cool until Nina arrived.

Nina is Alicia’s cousin from Spain. She looks more grown up than Massie and her friends do and she wears high heeled boots and sexy clothes all the time. All the boys at Briarwood (the nearby boy’s school) are crazy about her. This makes the other girls so mad. They were just starting to have boyfriends and Nina steals them all away.

The big Valentine’s Day dance is coming up. The girls have all decided on who they want to go with. Massie and Derrington, Claire and Cam, Alicia and Josh, Dylan and Chris and Kristen and Kemp are how they have it planned. The girls have to go to the boy’s school and “shoot” them with an arrow to get their date. Dylan and Kristen become friends with Nina and make a bet about who can get the first kiss. Whichever girl does will win a pair of Nina’s boots! Massie, Claire and Alicia want no part of the bet. Claire is sure that her first kiss with Cam will be romantic and not done on a bet. But when the big day of shooting your date comes, Derrington, Josh and Cam run away from the girls. Massie, Claire and Alicia are dateless and Nina is going to the dance with all three of their guys!

Massie and her friends are going to get revenge! They set up many “operations” to get even with Nina. Some succeed and some fail. These parts are really funny. The girls, with the help of Claire’s brother, discover a thief among them and are going to make sure that everyone knows it. They all get several detentions for their actions, but eventually get back at Nina. Even though Nina gets what she deserves, the story isn’t over.

At the finals of the boy’s soccer game, the girls decide that they are over their guys and ready to move on to something new. Then they learn the truth about why their guys ran away from them before the dance. For some of them, that changes everything, for others, it doesn’t.

Massie and her friends discover some of the lessons of life in this book. They get hurt, but they hurt others too. Some of the things that they do are kind of mean, but it seems to be what all girls our age go through.

I thought this book was fun to read. It’s silly at times, but makes sense to me. I would recommend it to my friends to read.

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

The story is about a kid named Percy who is a half blood and doesn't really know it. A half blood is someone who is half God half human. The main characters are percy, his mother, his father, grover his friend, and hades. Percy is trying to get back Zeus's main lightning bolt back and kill some monsters. Some of the problems are trying to get past a three headed dog named Cerberus, and fighting a Minotaur. One of the exciting adventures was when he took up a quest to get back Zeus's main lightning bolt back.

I did like the book although I didn't relate to any of the characters in it. I don't relate to any of them because they all handle dangerous situations much better than I. My favorite character is Percy because he always manages to defeat whatever monsters he is fighting.

My least favorite part of the book was when you find our that luke is a traitor.I don't like it because he almost kills the main character. If there was something I could charge about the book it would be luke being a traitor. I would like to change it to him staying or being punished somehow for changing sides.

I would recommend this book to my friends because they like science fiction, and action. Some examples of the action are percy fighting, and killing the minotaur, And killing Medusa. If you like robot kind of science fiction then this is not the book for you.

BRIANS WINTER
BY: GARY PAULSEN

This story was about a middle school aged boy named Brian and he was flying to go see his dad and the pilot of the plane was an old man and the old man passes out or has a stroke while flying the plane and Brian doesn't know what to do so he runs up to the cockpit and puts the plane on autopilot (autopilot is when you push a button that controls the plane by it's self). After a while of the plane being on autopilot the plane has to be flown manually and he doesn't know how to fly the plane so he knows he is going to crèche into what he can't make out but is a lake and so he gets prepared to crash into the lake. The most mentioned character in this book was Brian. I think the worst problem for Brian was just being stuck in this Norther winter and freezing to almost death. The most exiting part of this book for Brian was when Brian got a moose because he went out hunting one day and saw a big track in the snow and couldn't make out what it was, but after a couple seconds standing there he herd something right behind him break and hid under the brush and saw the moose.

My opinion: I thought this book was one of the best books I have ever read and if someone were to ask me what a good book was and liked these kind of books this would be the first book that I would recommend. I didn't relate to any of the characters because I haven't ever had to hunt for food of stay alive in a little wood made little cabin. My favorite character was Brian! I like the way he would try to think outside the box and wouldn't think negatively he would always think on the positive side of everything. I didn't really have a favorite part of the book I thought the whole book was very good. I didn't have a least favorite part of the book because I loved every part of the book. I wouldn't change anything about this book besides the ending I think the ending could be a little more surprising.

What is my recommendation: I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who likes these kind of nature books. I think the people who don't like any part of nature or don't treat it with the respect it deserves I wouldn't recommend it to those type of people.

imgres.jpegGregor and the Prophecy of Bane

By: Suzanne Collins

Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane is about a kid named Gregor that is trying to find a rat. Gregor had no plan to go back to the Underland This rat is a special rat in the Underland, a world that is below our world, that is a rare white rat. It is assumed that Gregor must kill the rat to fulfill the Prophecy of Bane.

I really liked Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane. I did not really have a least favorite part of the book. I thought the entire book was good. Gregor was my favorite character in the book because I always wondered what he was going to do next. one of my favorite parts is were they almost drowned in this giant river because of a whirlpool. Another favorite part was the beginning when they went to Central park and these giant roaches stole boots Gregor's sister because they thought the rats were going to try to kill her. Actual the end was my favorite part but I couldn't tell you because that would a story spoiler. These were my favorite part because they were the most exiting to me.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure fiction. Also, any one who likes any Charlie Bone or Harry Potter books would probably like this book.

Of Mice and Men

This story is about two men named George and Lennie. They have a dream of owning a little shack with rabbits, chickens, and an alfalfa patch so they can feed the rabbits. The place has a stove and a kitchen, and 3 separate rooms. They are going to live of The Fatta the Lan. The main characters are George and Lennie. Lennie was a very strong man he would do anything someone told him to do. He wasn’t very smart but he was a hard working fella. George wasn’t very big. He was very smart. He was practically taking care of Lennie.

I liked the book a lot. It was a very exciting book. It seemed like every part of the book was exciting. I didn’t know what was going to happen next. My favorite character was Lennie. He was just like a big baby. He was the working type and he wasn’t very smart. He was always so scared when he got in trouble. He was my favorite because he loved touching soft things. My favorite part of the book was when Lennie killed Curly’s wife. I liked it because he wasn’t trying to hurt her at all, he was just trying to calm her down. But instead he snapped her neck on accident.

I think my friend Peter would like this book. I think he would like it because he likes stories from a long time ago. I would recommend this book to people that like historical fiction and Adventure. I wouldn’t recommend this book to people who like horror or science fiction.

The Pearl

John Steinbeck

By: soccerismetplc

Kino, Juana, and Coyotito are the main characters. Kino is the father of Coyotito, he collects clams for a living looking for lustrous pearls in them. Juana is the mother of Coyotito, she goes out with Kino to help him collect clams. Coyotito is the son of Juana and Kino. In this story Kino finds The Pearl of The World in an enormous clam. He thinks it will bring him great wealth. It brings him the opposite, evil. Kino is trying to sell the Pearl but the pearl buyers are trying to steal it from him. He kills a man in self defense, he runs away out into the mountains. The trackers are chasing him trying to kill him.

I like Kino because he is very stubborn. He is very brave, and he will risk his life for
other people. My favorite part of the book is when Kina, Juana, and Coyotito are being tracked by the three trackers. I would change how the ending is, it’s very sad. I would let Coyotito live, and have them celebrate instead of mourn.

I would recommend this book to people who like adventure and history, because this book is what people did back in the old days. I wouldn’t recommend this to people who like horror or supernatural books, because this book is scary, and there isn’t any supernatural happenings in this book. I would recommend this book to some of my friends who have enough patience to understand what is happening in this book. You need to have patience because the author is changing subjects very quick. The author is also using some words/phrases that might be a little confusing.

POINT BLANK

Author: Anthony Horowitz
By: aatplc

Point Blank is a non-stop thrilling story. The main character, fourteen-year-old Alex Rider, is a secret agent. He is sent to a school called Point Blanc to investigate the deaths of two of the fathers. The school is full of wealthy boys who were either under the influence of drugs, stole, flunked school, smuggled, or vandalized. Eventually Mr. Grief, head of the school, and his assistant, Mrs. Stellenbosch, found out Alex Rider was a spy. After Dr. Grief recited his accomplishments to his prisoner, Alex, he locked him up with the threat of death in the morning. As for what happened next; you’ll have to read the book.

You asked “Did you like the book?” That’s not even a question. This is one of two of my favorite series. I like to say I relate to Alex. He enjoys adventure, which is similar to me because I love adventure too; even if my parents disagree. He will investigate anything that seams wrong. I tend to work that way too. I enjoyed the part at the end when Alex takes an iron board and carves it into a snowboard. Then snowboards down the mountain with guards on snowmobiles shooting at him. As for my least favorite part, I don’t have one and I would not change anything.

I do recommend this book. Anyone, especially teens, who love non-stop trilling action books; this is your book. I think everyone should read this not only the ones who love action.

Ella Enchanted

By: Gail Carson Levine
Reviewed by: Jordan M.
This story is about a girl that was given a curse and it was the “gift” of obedience, and this girl is Ella. Ella has to make the most biggest sacrifice just to save the one she loves the most, the prince. The main characters in the book were Ella, Char (the prince) and Mandy (the cook). Ella is the one with the curse. Char is the one that Ella likes and he likes her back he is just afraid to say so and he is also a prince. Mandy is the cook and her fairy godmother and helps her out a lot in the book. One of the main problems in the book was that Char was going away to Ayortha and him and Ella would write letters to each other and they would talk about how much has changed sense Char had left for Ayortha, and in the last letter that Char sent was asking for her hand in marriage and Ella wrote back as Hattie and note from herself and to me that part was a bit confusing. One exciting adventure is when Ella had to talk to the Ogres in Ogresses and she could under stand the Ogres too and she was really scared because they were going to eat her but she over came that fear when she was not alone because Char came.
My favorite character is Ella because she ended up with the prince and would not want a prince in their life. I think that the character that I related to the most is Ella because in the book she is told what to do and I am told what to do but not in the way Ella was. My favorite part of the book was the last ball that Ella went to when Char found out that the girl that he had been falling for was the person who betrayed he but Char had wished that Ella had been there but really Ella was there all along. My least favorite part of the book was when Ella was given the curse of obedience.
If I would recommend this book to a friend I would guess that they would like it as much as I did when I read it. I think that the people who should read this book are people who like mystery, romance, and adventure. People who should not read this book are people who don’t like mystery, romance, and adventure.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of monsters
By: Rick Riordan
Book Product By: Joseph L

When the book begins, Percy Jackson is yet again going to get kicked out of another school, this time it's worse. Everything seemed to be ok (except for the fact that his school found a homeless kid named Tyson who looked to be 15, but turned out to be a baby cyclopes, which would explain the crying) until some "visitors" named Marrow Sucker, Skull Eater, and Joe Bob, came to the school. The visitors, along with the school bully Matt Sloan, challenge Percy and his friends to a game of dodgeball, in which the visitors turn out to be Monsters and get killed. Percy has also been having these strange dreams in which Percy's friend, Grover (who is a Satyr) is in a Cyclopes's cave wearing a wedding dress! These dreams are all to real, the Cyclopes is none other than Polyphemus (he wants to marry Grover because his eye is still healing, so he thought that Grover is a female Cyclopes!). Eventually, Clarisse (who happened to be the daughter of Ares, the god of war) gets a quest to find the Golden Fleece, because the camps protective barrier (which is powered by Thalia's Tree, which has been poisoned) is slowly disintegrating. Percy, Anabeth, and Tyson set off to get the Golden Fleece and save Grover.

I personally liked this book, because I like mythology. My favorite part of the book was when Grover was in a wedding dress, it must have been quite a sight, a satyr in a wedding dress, a male satyr to! If I could change anything about the ending, I would have Percy be invited to Poseidon's underwater realm. I liked the fact that Anabeth has the cap of invisibility, which means that she can become invisible whenever she wants to. I found it kind of shocking that almost every Cyclopes is the son or daughter of Poseidon.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mythology and a good laugh once in a while.

DON'T JUDGE A GIRL BY HER COVER

By Ally Carter

Review By dancerdarian54

The title is completely deceiving. I would have never guessed that this book was about spy girls! Cammie, Bex, Liz and Macey are all enrolled at the famous Gallagher Academy. They are Gallagher Girls. This means that they are highly trained, extremely intelligent spy girls. In this book, they are trying very hard to protect their friend Macey. Macey's father is running for vice president which makes Macey a target for people who don't agree with her father's politics. Their adventures are in the classroom and outside of it. They definitely have a different life than most girls!

It took me awhile to get into this book although I did end up liking it. I didn't realize that it was a series and it probably would have been best if I had started with the first book.
Cammie is my favorite character. She is a really tough girl, but you also see a softer side of her. She has the same feelings as other girls even though her life is very different. I loved the part of the book when the girls learned about disguises.

I would recommend this book to my friends, but I would say to start at the beginning of the series. I think I would have had an easier time understanding everything if I had started out that way. The book would most likely be best for girls in the age range of 11 to 14.
