Not sure how to write a book review? That's ok! Check here!

3 Steps to Follow When Writing a Book Review:

Note: You do not have to answer every question. These are only suggestions to guide your writing.

  • Older students (Middle School and High School) will want to have each section as a paragraph.
  • Younger students (Elementary and Middle School) will need to check with their teachers, but answer at least 2 questions in each section.

Paragraph 1

Write at least 3-4 sentences (a good, solid paragraph) about the plot.

  • What was the story about?
  • Who were the main characters and what did they do?
  • What were the problems in the story for the characters (conflicts)?
  • What were the exciting adventures?
  • DO NOT give away the ending (or if you do, post with a label of SPOILER ALERT)

Paragraph 2

Share your opinion.

  • Did you like the book?
  • Did you relate to any characters in the story? How so?
  • Who was your favorite character and why?
  • What was your favorite part of the book? Why was this your favorite?
  • What was your least favorite part of the book? Why did you not like this part?
  • If you could change something in the book, what would it be? If you wish you could change the ending, remember not to tell the ending to the story you read!

Paragraph 3

What is your recommendation?

  • Would you recommend this book to your friends?
  • Who should read this book? Why would these people like it?
  • Who should NOT read this book? Why not?
